Day's End - Little Gem Painting Auction

Day's End, Copyright 2013 Keith Bond, 7 x 9 oil on mounted linen
Scenes like this can never be painted from a photograph. The darks will be too dark or the lights will be washed out. The subtle shifts in color temperature are also lost in photography. Developing the ability to paint quickly (a small canvas helps, too) is crutial to painting fleeting light.
This little plein air study was painted on location near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It was a delight to paint. The sky was painted first (with a few strokes of the top of the dark green hillside to establish the light/dark value relationships) with the forground painted last, since it changed the least.
Add this little gem to your collection.
You are bidding for the painting unframed.
