Your friend must be a joy to live with!

I had the same reaction to that friend's Facebook post Keith. I almost messaged him the same words you have just written. I have to confess I have been more wrapped up in the negative aspects of our political and social climate of late as well. I have stopped (for the most part) engaging in what I read on Facebook, because sadly it is designed to bring us down. I agree that we need beautiful art MORE now than ever. Thank you for your beautiful paintings. I will attempt to paint something beautiful today after I feed the tomato plants....life goes on.

Beautifully put and so very true. If evil can silence art we are all finished as a great society.

Your words brought tears to my eyes, thank you for your thoughts. I am grateful for the art all the artists put out there, it gives me hope.

Hi, Keith! Yes, it is true that art can give us rest from this weary world. In the making of art, even more so especially when we realize growth. And all the beautiful pictures that fill our homes are so lovely to gaze upon when we bother to really look at them and appreciate them. But so soon we come to not even really notice them or pay any attention to their beauty and loveliness to take respite, until we must take them off the walls for a move, and then we notice the emptiness. Just as we so soon do not even come to engage with and appreciate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until we are in suffering. That is the real pity and shame. We must always look up to our Father in Heaven for real invigoration, inspiration, wholesomeness and vitality and never grow weary in doing so. He is.

Thank you for this encouraging word! I have been in a fog since April losing all interest in creating and painting and drawing. I guess a bit of depression with no passion. You just inspired me to get going and given me a much needed reason to paint again!
Yes, as artists we can brighten up this dark and dingy world with our God given gifts and talents!

I totally Agree with you

Such a wonderful newsletter. You made my world a better place today by sharing your beautiful thoughts. It made me even more grateful to be an artist.

Keith, I agree. Some of the most potent expressions of freedom have been made during times when that freedom was being attacked. Art is the last freedom when times try to imprison us. Thanks for this post.

I am with you! Even if artists are not selling, we owe art to the universe.....keep on a'painting! Just sitting and looking at my art brings peace to my mind, heart and soul. Namaste.

Just want to tell you that I agree 100 percent. My husband and I spent 30 years in the Army, living in various locations in the USA and other parts of the world. We have collected artwork from the early years of our marriage and continue to love it and appreciate it making our home a beautiful and exciting place to live! I just wish we had more wall space available!
We met you at the Illume Gallery in Salt Lake when it first opened and continue to enjoy the two pieces of your art plus many others. I also wish we had more $$!!
Love your Hawaii paintings too, but the mountains of Utah and Colorado are my favorites, especially the aspens.
Please keep your emails coming! Thanks for helping to make this a beautiful world.

You are right!

Hi Keith, I know what your saying is right because if everybody focused on the ugly things in life that is all that there ever would be. Love you Art your doing a great job Keith

Well.... That is EXACTLY the reason why I paint! To show and share that there is a LOT of beauty around and if we stop for a minute to savour it, we will be ahead of the game. I choose to focus on the positive and good. Thank you Keith!

"All it takes for evil to win is for enough good men to do nothing"
An artist can and should do more than just paint. Especially when their country is in trouble. We have a corrupt FBI, and DOJ that has a separate laws just for Hillary -- an utterly corrupt liar who should be in jail, instead of being allowed to run for President. A corrupt IRS that targets Conservatives. A corrupt Democratic Party that has been caught on video paying people to start fights at Trump rallies and nobody is arrested and a mostly corrupt Media--CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS who not only don't report the Wikileaks's email and Project Veritas videos that show the extent of the evil of the Democratic Party but they actually make campaign contributions to the DNC. Thanks to the worst president in history we have Obamacare, and a $20 Trillion debt that we are leaving our children. The middle class which doesn't exist anymore, certainly doesn't have the money to buy art and unless Trump is elected a liberal Supreme Court will finish off what's left of this country. Please do not put your head in the sand :educate yourself and then other people through Facebook about the importance of voting for Trump in order to turn this country around. Hang your flag. Trump has spent over $60 million of his own money, to take on a job he doesn't need, to help his failing country that has been so good to him.We won't have this chance ever again.

Celeste,
As I mentioned in the post, I am not promoting complacency and I believe we do need to do more.
The post was about not letting go of the good, though, in the process.
This blog post is about the need for art. Let's save the political arguments for a different forum. Thank You.
