Last October, my teenage son and I camped a short distance from here for about a week. Most of our time was spend in the higher country. The days were filled with hiking the canyons and ridges seen in the background of the painting. We spotted many moose tracks and a few elk tracks in the area. On the last afternoon, after packing up camp, we stopped at this lake. I did a quick plein air sketch of this scene while my son threw rocks and sticks in the lake.
As I worked on this studio version, fond memories of our camping trip permeated my mind.
