Spring comes late to this high mountain valley known as North Park. The valley floor is well over 8,000 feet high in elevation. Many of the surrounding mountains loom over 13,000 feet. Park View Mountain dominates the view of the southern end of the valley.
This area is one of my very favorite places to paint in Colorado. Primarily ranchland, the area is broad and open. Rugged mountains circle the valley. The area boasts forests of aspen and pine; clear creeks, rivers and lakes; and sage brush flats.
