Writing About Art

I enjoy writing about art. I am quite opinionated sometimes and I hope you take it with a grain of salt. Writing about art is a great way for me to work through ideas that I have floating around in my mind. It solidifies concepts. I hope that it is meaningful to those who read. Whether artist, collector, or curious onlooker, I hope those who read my thoughts begin to think more deeply about what art means and appreciate all that is required to be an artist.

Recently, I agreed to become a contributing writer for Fine Art Views (a popular online art forum). It is an honor to have been invited to join their writing team. The weekly articles written for Fine Art Views will not be available on my own blog nor will I send them out with my newsletter. (You can read these articles as well as articles written by other contributing authors by subscribing to the Fine Art Views Newsletter. My first article "Pure Art or Selling out to Commercialism" was published last week.)

I will continue to write my own articles for Keith Bond Fine Art Newsletter and post them on my blog. I won’t allow this other writing commitment to detract from my obligation to you. You are a priority. I wish to thank you for your ongoing support and interest in my work (and my writing).

By accepting the offer to write for Fine Art Views, I hope to accomplish several things:

Set aside a specific time to write articles for both you and Fine Art Views. You will receive newsletters on a more regular basis.

Writing helps me articulate and solidify ideas that are floating around in my mind.

As my thoughts become more solidified, I can better convey them to others (at shows, at workshops, with curious friends or new acquaintances, etc.).

The exposure will be great - others will discover my work.

Conversely, many of you may be unfamiliar with Fine Art Views. You may find it interesting and it may lead you to discover other great artists and ideas about art (I hope you still like mine best, though!).

I hope to share some things about art that I have learned with other artists and collectors alike. I especially hope to encourage the aspiring artists to dream and persevere in pursuit of their dreams.

I hope that collectors gain a deeper appreciation for the arts.

I hope to convey how important art is to me, and that I take my career very seriously.

My next blog will be a tad bit more interesting than this!

Thank you to all of you who enable me to continue pursuing my passion. Thank you for sharing the joy of art.

Sincerely,
Keith Bond
